200 years of music and emotion: The Polish National Opera marks its anniversary with a star-studded gala
On November 29, the Polish National Opera will host a grand gala celebrating 200 years since the laying of its foundation stone and 60 years since the theatre’s postwar reconstruction.
The anniversary event will take audiences on a journey through two centuries of the Warsaw opera house’s history. The program features works that showcase the diversity and richness of its repertoire – from Chopin and Moniuszko, through Verdi, Rossini, Bizet and Mozart, to contemporary masters such as Penderecki and Kilar.
The gala will bring together artists who began their careers at the Polish National Opera and have since earned international recognition: Aleksandra Kurzak, Andrzej Filończyk, Piotr Buszewski and Rafał Siwek. They will be joined by the chorus and orchestra of the Polish National Opera and the Polish National Ballet, coming together for a spectacular evening of music, dance, and emotion under the baton of Patrick Fournillier.
Hosted by Grażyna Torbicka and Jakub Józef Orliński, the gala unites tradition with a contemporary spirit, celebrating Poland’s musical legacy and the lasting vitality of opera. It will be broadcast on TVP1 and streamed on OperaVision.
