Today we celebrate World Opera Day. OperaVision proposes celebrating it with a traditional staging of Puccini’s “La bohème” prepared by the Opéra Orchester National from Montpellier. The cast features two Polish singers we wrote about here. A recording of the performance is available on OperaVision from October 25 for 6 months, until April 25, 2025.

Soprano Adriana Ferfecka sings the part of Mimì, which she has already performed, among others, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Polish National Opera. For baritone Mikołaja Trąbka, member of the Frankfurt Opera ensemble, it was his debut in the role of Marcello. The cast of the Opéra Orchestre National in Montpellier, France also included the Chinese tenor Long Long (Rodolfo), winner of 3rd place at the 10th Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition.

Giacomo Puccini wrote “La bohème” in 1896. Giuseppe Giacosa’s libretto tells the story of four poor artists: Schaunard, Rodolfo, Colline and Marcello. Rodolfo falls in love with Mimì, but the girl’s illness stands in the way of love.
