Back by popular demand: Puccini’s “La Bohème” returns to Polish National Opera
Puccini’s “La Bohème“, directed by Barbara Wysocka, was staged at the Polish National Opera in December 2021 for the first time. A number of cast members in the current production were featured in the premiere run of the show, including: Adriana Ferfecka (Mimì), Aleksandra Orłowska (Musetta), Tomasz Rak (Marcello), Sławomir Kowalewski (Schaunard), Jerzy Butryn (Colline) and Dariusz Machej and Grzegorz Szostak (Benoît). Long Long and Arthur Espiritu will debut as Rodolfo at the Polish National Opera. Patrick Fournillier is Musical Director.
The audience will have the opportunity to see seven performances during the current season: on April 5, 6, 7, 9 and June 12, 13 and 14.
Giacomo Puccini wrote “La Bohème” in 1896. Giuseppe Giacosa’s libretto tells the story of four impoverished artists: Schaunard, Rodolfo, Colline and Marcello. Rodolfo falls in love with Mimì, but their happiness is threatened when the girl falls gravely ill.
