Between tradition and the classical canon. A festive programme by MACV
The Period Instrument ensemble of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense (MACV), has for many years specialized in the performance of early music on historical instruments. On January 6, 2026, the ensemble will present a festive programme featuring new arrangements by Krzysztof Herdzin. The concert at the Royal Castle in Warsaw will include Polish Christmas carols interwoven with excerpts from works by Baroque and Classical composers.
The evening’s soloists will be soprano Justyna Bujak and tenor Andrzej Lampert. The concert is a rare opportunity to hear well-known Polish carols in dialogue with masterpieces by Mozart, Vivaldi, Handel, Purcell, Bach and Charpentier. The programme will feature, among others, “Anioł pasterzom mówił” (“The Angel Said to the Shepherds”), “Mizerna, cicha” (“Poor and Silent”), “Gdy śliczna Panna” (“When the Fair Maiden”) and “Lulajże Jezuniu” (“Sleep, Little Jesus”), paired with excerpts from such works as the “Air on the G String,” “Lascia ch’io pianga,” the “Third Brandenburg Concerto” and “The Four Seasons.”
