Concert performance of Stanisław Moniuszko’s “Halka” in Italian will round off the 2023-24 season at the Podlasie Opera in Białystok. On June 21, Fabio Biondi will conduct the soloists, Orchestra and Chorus of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic on the Main Stage of the theatre.

Italian violinist and conductor Fabio Biondi is the founder of the early music ensemble Europa Galante. Fascinated with Moniuszko, he rediscovers the scores written by the composer. According to the organizers, Biondi puts the father of the Polish national opera (and patron of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic) on an equal footing with Donizetti, Bellini and Verdi. The ensemble let by the Italian artist have participated in the International Music Festival “Chopin and his Europe” four times. In 2018, the concert performance of “Halka”, sung in Italian, marked the first presentation of the score on period instruments in Poland.

The cast features: Tina Gorina (Halka), Anna Wolfinger (Zofia), Kamil Wróblewski (Youth), Matheus Pompeu (Jontek), Tomasz Raff (Stolnik), Tomasz Rak (Janusz), Paweł Cichoński (Guest), Kirill Lepay (Guest, The Piper) and Mateusz Stachura (Dziemba).
