Giewont. The Polish National Opera to show an extraordinary collection of paintings
From December 17, the Redutowe Rooms at the Polish National Opera will feature an exhibition of painterly interpretations of one of the most recognizable peaks of the Tatra Mountains – Giewont. The exhibition will consist of nearly 150 paintings of the same mountain captured from completely different angles, all spanning over 150 years of Polish painting. Born out of a passion for the mountains, Elżbieta and Andrzej Kubasiewicz’s collection is a tribute to the diversity of styles, techniques and artistic visions.
The works include pieces by recognized masters of Polish painting as well as lesser-known artists. Visitors will have an opportunity to admire, among others, paintings by the legendary Polish tenor Wiesław Ochman and Alicja Kokosińska – set designer, painter and clothing designer, privately the daughter of the famous Polish mezzo-soprano Małgorzata Walewska.
The exhibition is on view through February 9, 2025. Available to visitors from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays (except January 5 and January 12). It is also open one hour before the shows at the Polish National Opera and during intervals.
