Hubert Zapiór as Count Almaviva in Berlin, Edinburgh and Warsaw
Since the beginning of the 2022-23 season, Hubert Zapiór has been a soloist of the Komische Oper Berlin, where he has sung, among others, Mozart’s baritone repertoire, including the roles of Papageno in “The Magic Flute” and Guglielmo in “Così fan tutte.” He also performed Count Almaviva in “The Marriage of Figaro” during the April premiere staged by Kirill Serebriennikov – theater and film director affiliated with the Russian opposition, with James Gaffigan (Music Director of the Komische Oper) conducting on the podium. The production returns to Berlin stage on May 26, with more performances lined up in November and December, 2024. It will also be shown during the Edinburgh International Festival in August.
“The Marriage of Figaro” makes a come back at the Warszawska Opera Kameralna (Warsaw Chamber Opera) on the occasion of the 33rd Mozart Festival (May-June). Hubert Zapiór revisits the role of Count Almaviva which he sang in Warsaw back in 2020. The staging by Grzegorz Chrapkiewicz premiered in 2019. Music Director is Piotr Sułkowski. On stage June 27 and 28, 2024.
