Iwona Sobotka debuts as Aida at the Grand Theatre in Poznań

Marek Weiss’ staging of Verdi’s “Aida” at the Grand Theatre in Poznań is over 20 years old – the show premiered on May 20, 2021. The February revival of the production will feature soprano Iwona Sobotka who will perform the title Aida for the first time in her career. She will sing the demanding role on February 21, 23 and 25.

Marco Guidarini will conducts. “Aida” was commissioned by the Khedive of Egypt and had its world premiere in Cairo. The axis of the drama is the dilemma of the victorious Egyptian general Radames, loved by two women, Amneris – the daughter of the pharaoh and the captive Aida – the daughter of the king of Ethiopia.
