Jessica Pratt stars the Grand Opening Gala of the 33rd Mozart Festival in Warsaw
The 33rd Mozart Festival opens at the Warsaw Philharmonic on May 13.
The star of the evening is Jessica Pratt. Australian singer is the winner of the International Opera Award (2016). The New York Times hailed her as “a master of bel canto”, “comfortably reaching for the highest notes in the scale of the human voice.” According to her Facebook profile, she is a coloratura soprano specializing in the repertoire of Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti. She will be joined on stage in Warsaw by Petr Nekoranec, Czech tenor who has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Theater an der Wien and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, among others.
The program of the Grand Opening features famous Mozart arias and duets (from “Don Giovanni”, “The Abduction from the Seraglio”, “Idomeneo” and “The Clemency of Titus”), complemented by overtures and “German Dances”, rarely included in concert repertoires. The soloists will be accompanied by the orchestra of the Warszawska Opera Kameralna (Warsaw Chamber Opera) Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense, with Michał Maciaszczyk conducting on the podium.
The concert program will be repeated at the opening of the Vienna edition of the Mozart Festival at the Wiener Musikverein on May 19.
