“La Bohème” premiere from 2021 available for freeviewing on vod.teatrwielki.pl
The Polish National Opera will share the premiere performance of Puccini’s “La Bohème” on its VOD streaming channel. The performance on December 3, 2021 featured: Adriana Ferefecka (Mimi), Davide Giusti (Rodolfo), Aleksandra Orłowska (Musetta), Ilya Kutyukhin (Marcello), Sławomir Kowalewski (Schaunard), Jerzy Butryn (Colline), Grzegorz Szostak (Benoit) and Paweł Czekała (Alcindoro).
“La Bohème” tells a story about great emotions, separations and returns, about absolute destiny and loss. What is most important in this staging? An image of a community of artists in the landscape of a big city, the topic of illness as the “night side of life” and a story of love that does not always win, sometimes losing to illness and death – says the director of the show, Barbara Wysocka.
Puccini wrote “La Bohème” in 1896. Giuseppe Giacosa’s libretto tells the story of four poor artists: Schaunard, Rodolfo, Colline and Marcello. Rodolfo falls in love with Mimì, but the girl’s illness stands in the way of their love.
