“La serva padrona” premieres at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz
The Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz opens its new artistic season on October 25 with premiere of “La serva padrona.” The production is directed by Jerzy Jan Połoński, with set and costumes designed by Mariusz Napierała. The orchestra (two ensembles of the musicians from the Opera Nova) are conducted by Jagoda Brajewska.
Dorota Nowak, Marta Ustyniak-Babińska sing the role of Serpina. Łukasz Jakubczak, Bartłomiej Kłos, Janusz Żak play Uberto. The silent title role of Vespon features Wojciech Urbanowski and Jakub Zarębski.
“La serva padrona” is an immersive performance – an interactive “stage game” for solo singers, chamber orchestra and the audience.
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s mini-opera “La serva padrona,” written in 1733, was originally intended as a comic intermezzo. It tells a funny story of a wealthy old bachelor terrorized by his clever maid. Psychologically interesting portraits of a woman and a man emerge from musical inventiveness.
