The leading roles will be performed by two of the most beautiful voices of our time: Juliana Grigoryan as Mimì (marking her Live in HD debut) and Freddie De Tommaso as Rodolfo (the tenor returns to the Met after his acclaimed performance as Cavaradossi in “Tosca” last season). The Met orchestra will be conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson, making her Live in HD debut.

Puccini composed “La bohème” in 1896. Giuseppe Giacosa’s libretto tells the story of four impoverished young artists – Schaunard, Rodolfo, Colline and Marcello. Rodolfo falls in love with Mimì, but their romance is shadowed by her illness. This undisputed tearjerker remains one of the world’s most beloved operas – though rooted in nineteenth-century realities, it continues to move audiences with its emotional depth.

What makes “La bohème” so compelling is its timeless universality. Puccini gives voice to emotions everyone knows – love that defies reason, heartbreak and the sorrow of loss – through music of extraordinary beauty and power. Iconic arias such as “Che gelida manina” and “Mi chiamano Mimì” continue to bring audiences to their feet.

Other titles in this season’s Live in HD program include: “Arabella” by Richard Strauss (November 22, 2025), “Andrea Chénier” by Umberto Giordano (December 13, 2025), “I Puritani” by Vincenzo Bellini (January 10, 2026), “Tristan und Isolde” by Richard Wagner (March 21, 2026), “Eugene Onegin” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (May 2, 2026) and “El último sueño de Frida y Diego” (“The Last Dream of Frida and Diego”) by Gabriela Lena Frank (May 30, 2026).
