New version of “Requiem in D minor” KV 626 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw
The 33rd Mozart Festival continues, with “Così fan tutte”, “Don Giovanni” and “The Marriage of Figaro” still ahead of us at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. The program also features two concert performances of “Requiem in D minor” KV 626 at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw.
Unfinished by the composer, Mozart’s Funeral Mass was completed for the first time by the composer’s student and collaborator, Franz Xaver Süssmayr. The audience will hear this version on June 14, featuring: Magdalena Stefaniak (soprano), Justyna Rapacz (mezzo-soprano), Andrzej Lampert (tenor), Łukasz Konieczny (bass). On June 21, a new version of the work, published recently, will be presented. Created by conductor and choirmaster Howard Arman, the score enters into a dialogue with Süssmayr’s notes. The concert will be performed by: Katarzyna Hołysz (soprano), Marta Wryk (mezzo-soprano), Krystian Adam Krzeszowiak (tenor), Remigiusz Łukomski (bass).
Both performances will feature the Vocal Ensemble of the Warsaw Chamber Opera (director: Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz) and the early music ensemble MACV (Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense) with Adam Banaszak conducting on the podium.
