Polish artists cast: Tomasz Konieczny, Jakub Józef Orliński, Piotr Bewała and Agnieszka Rehlis in the new season at the Opera in Zurich
New season at the Zurich Opera House begins on September 14. The audience will once again have an opportunity to hear Polish singers – Marzena Mikosz provides the details in chronological order.
1. “Lucia di Lamermoor” by Gaetano Donizetti features Piotr Buszewski as Edgardo, laird of Ravenswood. The production returns to the stage on September 20, with further performances on September 24, 29, October 6, 16, 26, 2024.
2. In “Ariadne of Naxos” by Ryszard Strauss, Hubert Kowalczyk will sing Truffaldin, and Dominika Stefańska will play the role of Dryad (September 25 and 28). The show opens on September 22, with more performances on September 25, 28, October 3, 6, 10, 13, 18, 22, 2024.
3. Alina Adamski will star as Rosi (alternating with Rebecca Olvera) in “Around the World in 80 Days” by Jonathan Dove. The show will be resumed on November 17, running on November 24, December 1, 7, 14, 21, 26, 29, 2024 and January 2, 5, 12, 2025.
4. Tomasz Konieczny appears in the title role in Richar Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman”, returning to the stage on November 21, with further performances running on November 24, 30, December 6, 10, 2024.
5. Agnieszka Rehlis plays the role of Ulrica in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Un ballo in maschera”. The show premieres on December 8, with further performances on December 11, 14, 17, 21, 28, 2024 and January 5, 10, 15, 19, 2025.
6. Krzysztof Urbański takes over as Music Director of “Fidelio” by Ludwig van Beethoven. The production returns to the stage on January 21. On view also January 25 and February 2, 8, 15, 2025.
7. Jakub Józef Orliński sings Otto In “Agrippina” by George Friedrich Händel. The show premieres on March 2. On stage: March 5, 7, 9, 11, 14, 18, 27, 30, 2025.
8. Piotr Beczala plays the title role in Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin.” The show resumes on April 13, on stage April 16, 24, 27, May 4, 2025.
9. Krystian Adam Krzeszowiak returns as the titular Orpheus in Claudio Monteverdi’s opera. The show resumes on June 29, with further performances on July 3, 6, 8, 11, 2025.
