Polish baritone Marcin Bronikowski dies aged 55
On February 29, baritone Marcin Bronikowski passed away in Albania at the age of 55.
The death of the artist reverberated widely across social media yesterday, with a number of personalities from the world of opera expressing their condolences on his Facebook profile.
Marcin Bronikowski’s repertoire included over 40 opera roles from the works by Mozart, Bizet, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Massenet, Gounod, Donizetti and Bellini. In 2000, he was the first Polish baritone to debut on the stage of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, playing the role of Dandini in Rossini’s “Cinderella”.
He performed on the stages of: Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro “La Fenice” in Venice, Opera du Rhin in Strasbourg, National Opera in Athens, Semperoper in Dresden, La Scala in Milan and at festivals in Bregenz, Macau, San Sebastian, Martina Franca, among others.
