Conductor Marta Gardolińska specializes both in symphonic and opera repertoire. From the 2021/2022 season, she has been the musical director of the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, France. It was there that she conducted her first opera in 2020 – “Görge Neverlander” (Der Traumgörge) by Zemlinski. A year later, she conducted Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg, followed by Paderewski’s “Manru” and Verdi’s “La Traviata” in Nancy. According to Gardolińska’s website: Between 2013-2015 she served as the second conductor with the company Johann–Strauss–Operette Wien, learning the purest style of the Viennese musical tradition.

The Polish Institute in Paris published a film about Marta Gardolińska on the occasion of the premiere of Haydn’s oratorio “The Creation” at the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy staged in February. The video, made by Polish photographer Mona Mil, was created as part of the project “A Polish Touch. Portraits of Artists”.

The film, which is only available in French, shows Gardolińska working with the Lorraine Opera Orchestra. It also contains fragments of an interview with the conductor, in which she assures she will always include Polish accents while programming the repertoire of the French theater.
