The Grand Theater in Łódź has just announced its repertoire for the 2024-25 season.

The only operatic novelty is Puccini’s “La Bohème” directed by Marcin Łakomicki, under the musical direction of Rafał Janiak. Premiere performances will be on stage on December 7 and 8, 2024.

The first Puccini Festival will be held from November 15 until December 22, 2024. There will be eight scores by the Italian composer, four of which are part of the permanent repertoire of the Grand Theater in Łódź: “Madama Butterfly”, “Girl of the Golden West” and “Turandot”, as well as premiere staging of “La Bohème”, produced specifically for the Festival. The other works are: two one-act plays “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi”, “Manon Lescaut”, concert performance “Puccini – Portrait Sketch”, and ”Tosca” planned on November 29, exactly on the hundredth anniversary of the composer’s death.

The 2024-25 season will feature a numer of revivals. The Grand Theatre will show: “Aida”, “La Traviata” (Verdi), “Faust” (Gounod), “Carmen” (Bizet), “The Haunted Manor” (Moniuszko), “The Wandering Dutchman” (Wagner), “A Streetcar Named Desire” (Previn), “Hansel and Gretel” (the premiere of Humperdinck’s work will take place at the season’s end – on June 1, 2024), “The Barber of Seville” (Rossini) and “The Man From Manufaktura” (Janiak).
