On November 29, the audience of CKK Jordanka in Toruń will have a unique opportunity to see the new staging of Stanisław Moniuszko’s “Flis” directed by Michał Znaniecki, with costumes and decorations from the Silesian Opera. The Bytom staging was created to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Moniuszko.

The plot of the opera is set in the 19th century. Zosia, the daughter of a wealthy fisherman Antoni, falls in love with a poor rafter Franek. The girl’s father stands in the way of their love. He does not find a rafter a good match for his daughter. Moreover, he has promised Zosia’s hand to someone else – a rich, know-it-all hairdresser, Jakub from Warsaw…

Featuring: Hubert Stolarski (Franek), Martin Filipiak (Jakub), Iga Caban (Zosia), Adam Janik (Antoni), Benedykt Szostok (Szóstak) and Paweł Żak (Feliks). Chamber choir of the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź and the Toruń Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Adam Banaszak.

The Toruń Symphony Orchestra performs “Flis” on the occasion of the Raftsman Year in Toruń. It is worth mentioning the first monument to Stanisław Moniuszko is located in Toruń. The bust can be admired in the Musicians’ Garden, near the Vistula boulevards.
