The Grand Theater in Poznań launches the second run of the Early Spring Ballet Festival on March 20, 2025. Scheduled over nine days, the current edition aims to showcase the new perspectives and trends in the development of dance. It serves as a platform for emerging artists who embrace the challenge of seeking new forms of expression.

Alongside choreographic debuts, the festival features performances by established artists. The Early Spring Ballet draws upon the rich festival history of the Grand Theatre in Poznań and the city’s dance traditions, including collaborations with prominent figures in classical ballet, contemporary dance, and choreography, such as Olga Sawicka, Conrad Drzewiecki, Emil Wesołowski, Ewa Wycichowska, and Marek Różycki.

The festival opens with the premiere of “Spectrum 03,” featuring choreographic debuts of the dancers from the Poznań Grand Theatre Ballet. Initiated in 2022, the project provides the dancers with an opportunity not only to perform, but also choreograph shows. They are involved in all aspects of the production, including communication strategy, promotional materials, set design, music selection, and costumes. Previous editions of “Spectrum” have demonstrated the dancers’ creativity, surprising and captivating the audience. The project has been included in the festival program by the Ballet director Robert Bondara.

The program also features “4: Pastor / León & Lightfoot / Bondara” – a production showcasing the diversity of creations by world-renowned artists, united by their authentic understanding of dance as a form of expression and their remarkable intuition in infusing choreography with contemporary contexts.

There will also be guest performances, including “Every Minute Motherland” by Maciej Kuźmiński Company and “Jungle Book Reimagined” by Akram Khan Company, as well as workshops and meetings with choreographers. The full program of the Early Spring Ballet Festival can be found here.
