Tomasz Konieczny in Richard Strauss’s “Arabella” – The Met: Live in HD
The nineteenth season of the acclaimed The Met: Live in HD series is now underway, with screenings taking place in selected cinemas and cultural institutions throughout Poland. From autumn 2025 to late spring 2026, the Metropolitan Opera will present eight outstanding productions, featuring both beloved classics and exciting new stagings. Audiences will have the chance to admire world-class opera stars, as well as the work of acclaimed directors, conductors and designers of sets and costumes. The season opened on October 18, 2025 with a broadcast of Bellini’s “La Sonnambula,” followed on November 8 by Puccini’s La Bohème, in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic, enchanting production, widely regarded as one of the most perfect in the history of the Met.

On November 22, audiences across Poland will be able to immerse themselves in another Metropolitan Opera production. Richard Strauss’s “Arabella” will transport viewers to the elegant and charming world of 19th-century Vienna. This dazzling work, staged by the legendary director Otto Schenk, has been admired for its grandeur, meticulous attention to detail and classical approach to operatic tradition. In the title role, Rachel Willis-Sørensen portrays a young aristocrat seeking love on her own terms, earning acclaim from both audiences and critics. She will be joined by Tomasz Konieczny, the outstanding Polish bass-baritone, who has also received enthusiastic reviews for his portrayal of the charming Count Mandryka.
Other titles to be screened in cinemas include: Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” (December 13, 2025), Bellini’s “I Puritani” (January 10, 2026), Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” (March 21, 2026), Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” (May 2, 2026) and Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” (The Last Dream of Frida and Diego) (May 30, 2026).
