Antoni Wit has confessed on Polish Radio 2 there is nothing more important to him than conducting. According to the title of a recently published extended interview, he goes as far as to say it is a “matter of life and death”. The Warsaw Philharmonic invites the audience to celebrate the 80th birthday of their long-serving director. Antoni Wit will once again stand on the rostrum and lead the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir.

For his jubilee celebration, he will present three works: one of Ludwig van Beethoven’s overtures to his opera “Fidelio”, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” and Camille Saint-Saëns’ late Romantic symphony.

The “Coronation Mass” will feature the soloists: Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Ewa Marciniec, Rafał Bartmiński, and Wojtek Gierlach. The anniversary celebrations will be held over two evenings, on March 2 and 3, 2024.
