Antonio Pappano to conduct twice in Warsaw during the “Chopin and His Europe” Festival
On August 26 and 27, 2024, Sir Antonio Pappano will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra at the Polish National Opera. During the first concert, the winner of the XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition Bruce Liu will play Chopin’s “Piano Concerto in E minor Op. 11.” The Londoners will then proceed to play “Symphony No. 1 in E minor Op. 39” by Jean Sibelius.
The second concert will feature: “Violin Concerto in B minor Op. 61” by Edward Elgar, performed by the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang with the orchestra, as well as Symphonic Suite “The Planets Op. 32 by Gustav Holst, in which the artists will be accompanied by the Kaunas State Choir.
Antonio Pappano is one of the most sought-after contemporary conductors. He is appreciated for his charisma and inspiring interpretations of both symphonic and operatic repertoire. Since 2002, he has been Music Director of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and from the beginning of the 2024-25 season – Chief Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. He assumes the podium of the world’s most prestigious stages such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the opera houses in Vienna and Berlin, the festivals in Bayreuth and Salzburg, the Lyric Opera in Chicago and Teatro alla Scala.
