Concert performance of Moniuszko’s “The Haunted Manor” at the Berlin Philharmonic warmly received by German media
The concert performance of “The Haunted Manor” by the Poznań Opera House, shown at the Berlin Philharmonic on April 22, was very warmly received by the media.
“A valuable look at the opera tradition (…)”, wrote Manuel Brug, one of the most prominent opera critics in Germany (Oper Magazin). In “Tagesspiegel”, Isabel Herzfeld pointed out: “Influences from all over Europe can be heard in Moniuszko’s music. (…) The orchestra and choir (directed by: Mariusz Otto) of the Grand Theater in Poznań, conducted by Marco Guidarini, gave an excellent performance.”
websiteklassik-begeistert.de commented: ‘It was a truly Slavic music festival in the capital of Germany. The temperamental interpretation of maestro Marco Guidarini, an excellent group of soloists, alongside the coherent sound of the orchestra and choir of the Poznań Opera House – all this contributed to the success of Moniuszko’s work among our neighbors on the other side of the Oder,” wrote Jolanta Łada-Zielke.
The cast featured artists who earlier appeared in the opera staging at the Poznań Opera House: Ruslana Koval (Jadwiga), Gosha Kowalinska (Jadwiga), Piotr Kalina (Stefan), Rafał Korpik (Zbigniew), Stanislav Kuflyuk (Miecznik) and Albert Memeti (Damasy).
